What is IRATA?

IRATA is Industrial Rope Access Trade Association, was formed in the UK in the late 1980’s. The rope access technique developed by IRATA is now recognized as the world’s leading authority on industrial rope access.

What is IRATA Rope access?

IRATA International’s rope access system is a safe method of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the work place, and to be supported there. The advantage of using rope access methods mainly lies in the safety and speed with which workers can get to or from difficult locations and then carry out their work, often with minimal impact on other operations and the nearby area.

What are the prerequisite for IRATA Rope Access Level 1?

Any physically fit person can do the Level 1. No rope experience required. Basic training containing all aspects of safe working with industrial rope access. An operator level 1 works at all times under supervision of a responsible level 3.

  • Need to sign a medical declaration form prior to the commencement of training.
  • Minimum communication skill in English is desirable.

What are the prerequisite for IRATA Rope Access Level2?

Minimum of 1000 hours and at least 1 year experience as valid current Level 1. Advanced training where the emphasis is placed on ‘rigging’ and rescue techniques. A level 2 works at all times under the supervision of a responsible level 3.

What are the prerequisite for IRATA Rope Access Level3?

Minimum of 1000 hours and at least 1 year experience as valid current Level 2. First aid certificate. Specialized training where the emphasis is placed on complex rescue operations, alternative rigging, responsibility and insight in working situations.

API 653-Aboveground Storage tanks Inspector- The American Petroleum Institute initiated an API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector Certification Program with the participation of storage tank owners and users. It establishes a uniform national program that assists state and local governments in aboveground storage tank regulations. API 653 certification is valid for a three-year term.
